Fabric is everything in a warm climate
The single biggest comfort factor in Kenya is breathability. A 100% cotton scrub is soft and cool but wrinkles and shrinks; a poly-cotton blend resists creasing and holds colour through repeated hot washes; and a poly-rayon-spandex blend gives four-way stretch that moves with you during procedures. For most wards, a stretch blend is the sweet spot — cool enough, forgiving on fit, and quick-drying.
If your department launders on-site at high temperatures, prioritise a polyester-rich blend: it holds shape and colour far better than pure cotton under industrial washing.
Get the fit right
Scrubs should skim, not cling or drown you. You want a full range of movement — reaching, bending, lifting — without excess fabric catching on trolleys or equipment. Choosing colour
Many Kenyan facilities colour-code by role or department — theatre in a distinct shade, paediatrics in something warmer, administration in another. Before buying for a team, confirm your facility's colour policy. Classic ceil blue, navy and royal blue remain the safe, professional standards; prints and brighter tones are popular in paediatrics and private practice.
